The "roads of the wine" are ways within territories to high wine vocation
This road is located south-east from the Candia wine area. Our trip starts with Lucca with the imposing cathedral San Martino, the famous town square "Piazza del Mercato" (engl. market square) as well as the famous villas around Lucca. Continuing from Santo Stefano towards San Quirico di Moriano, one arrives at the "Ponte a Moriano" (engl. Moriano bridge). From here one contiues driving over Colle, Valgiano and Gragnano until reaching Montecarlo. In this area is produced red and white wine.

The wine Montecarlo DOC [mawn-teh-KAR-loh]
A DOC zone surrounding the hilltop town of Montecarlo, west of Florence in the northwest part of Italy's TUSCANY region. Montecarlo DOC makes only a BIANCO and a ROSSO, the former with the best reputation. The white wine uses mainly TREBBIANO, but a host of other grapes are allowed-Pinot Bianco (PINOT BLANC), Pinot Grigio (PINOT GRIS), ROUSSANNE, Sauvignon (SAUVIGNON BLANC), SÉMILLON, and VERMENTINO. The red wine uses from 50 to 75 percent SANGIOVESE, plus CANAIOLO, Cilegiolo, Colorino, MALVASIA, and SYRAH.
