Shall we set our base in Florence then travel
to Pisa, Siena, Arezzo etc for day trips? Or shall we
rent a car drive and stay in different towns?
All these important cities are close to each
other. Tuscany is not very big and you can drive across
it in one day, so it's all up to you to decide where to
set your base! Safe driving in Italy !
What is the best time of
the Tuscany wine harvesting and weather conditions?:
September and October are grape harvesting time; vino
novello and ripe figs are the flavour of the period. Spring
brings wild poppies galore, bearable heat and thus good
walking weather, but evenings chilly enough to light a
real Italian open fire - fuelled by last years olive tree
offcuts.
What is the best time of the year to go to Italy?
Our favorites are late April - early June and mid September
- end of October. Winter can be cold and rainy, summer
can be hot. But of course anytime in Italy is a good time.
How far in advance should I make reservations?
During the main holiday season (April September)
is it normally advisable to book accommodation in advance.
If you are a large party that requires a pool, a year
makes sense. At least 9 months. If you are 2 people, a
month or two before is often enough advance notice.
What will
the weather be like in Chianti?
The end of May/June is the best time for seeing all the
flowers in bloom. September/October is the period of the
grape harvest and is arguably the best time to visit.
Do we should rent a car?
A rental car is necessary if you intend to explore the
Chianti area. Most of the accommodation is not within
easy walking distance of shops, restaurants or bus stops.
For those of you who really do wish to stay put and relax
it is possible to reach Greve, Panzano and Lamole from
Florence by bus, otherwise we can arrange private transport
to you holiday home.
We will visit Sardinia and take the ferryboat . We
will make the tour on bicycle! We come from with our car
and our bikes. When we depart for Sardegna (on bike) we
intend to leave our car somewhere in or near Livorno for
several weeks. We will collect the car when we return.
My question is: Is it possible te leave our car at a guided
place for a period of 2 - 4 weeks ?
You should ask to your ferryboat at the information
desk of the ferryboat you are taking or you can contact
any ferryboat company from our page:

I think they can help you.
