Spaltenna Castle is an ancient feudal hamlet consisting of the church with it's bell tower dated 1000 the adjacent castle and a small group of houses a splendid example of medieval architecture. The castle dates back to the 11th century and appears in documents held at the nearby Coltibuono Abbey. Originally a monastery and located just above the village of Gaiole in Chianti today the castle is a four star hotel. It has been restored with great care and attention to detail and is located right in the heart of rolling Tuscan countryside south of Siena.

The Tower of Vertine of Castle of Spaltenna is a dream suite for originality, outlook and services offered. The 460 sq.m. space is divided into six levels, the top one given over to a solarium and an aromatherapy tub, in full presence of a breathtaking landscape.The interior is composed by comfortable and elegant ambients, texture and sophisticated accessories complete a very refined place.
The complex is surrounded by vineyards and woods, looks out over a splendid valley, at the center of an area rich in castles and ruins, ancient abbeys and medieval villages. Easy reach of Florence and Siena and is right in the heart of Chianti with its many wonderful hilltop villages, breathtaking landscapes and some of the most famous vineyards in the world. The local village of Gaiole in Chianti is just at the bottom of the hill and has several local shops as well as a variety of restaurants.
